Shield Pro Plex Server suddenly disappeared

My 2019 Shield Plex Server got corrupted somehow - after months of faithful service, it has basically disappeared and can’t be access anywhere, including on the Shield itself.

The Shield Plex Client offered to implement a ‘localhost’ in a popup, I agreed, and now ‘localhost’ is acting as a server and I can see all my libraries and content on my Shield connected USB3 drive, both on the Shield and from a browser. I can also read and write to the USB3 content drive across the network.

Also, the Shield’s other function of streaming paid content from Netflix and Disney+ etc. is working.

Despite having access to my libraries/content through the ‘localhost server’ I would like to reset the Plex Server and have it work again.

Can I do that and still keep all my former settings in terms of content and libraries? If so, how?

If not, how do I basically start over with the Plex Server?

Hey man I saw your post. I had two weeks ago the same problem. For me I fixed it somehow by claiming the server that pop ups (I dont recall if it was my OG server or Localhost but Plex will give u a message). Then renaming my “old” server (my OG server) SHIELD instead of NVIDIA SHIELD. Then I deleted Localhost. But it was still visible in my web app. I did go to devices and by category “servers” I deleted it. Now everything is working again and Localhost has never been seen since. Dont know what the … happened but I fixed it. Somehow… Hope this helps! I saw that nobody had replied yet. I had the same problem. So I figured it out myself and my good old friend google. Have a nice day!

Thanks for replying. I’m not familiar with the term “OG server”.

I couldn’t find a way to rename my “old” server. The only thing I could do is delete it. So I decided to try that.

I deleted the original server from the system using the web interface (Authorized Devices…Server), then just renamed Localhost to a new server name (Settings…General…Friendly Name), and everything seems to be back to normal!

I can’t believe it was that simple.

Hey man nice! Yeah thinking of it I think that was the same steps I took. I could not remember it properly. I’m glad its fixed!! By OG I meant original srry i should have typed that but I was in a sort of hurry haha. Glad I could be a help! Have a nice day
