Shield: Transcoding crashes with hardware acceleration enabled

Ah, wait. I see it’s running 7.19.0.11630. I think that’s the ‘fixed’ one. Right?

nkcee,

This is a server update that will need to be applied to your shield from the play store. If you are not in the beta, you will only be able to get 1.16.3.1402.

It’s odd that you are that far behind on your server updates… but maybe this is a good thing

I had the impression that the update was out of beta and was public by now? Im not seeing it in the app store yet.

1.16.4 is on beta not public release yet
The release note is here Plex Media Server

I’ve just updated to 1.16.6.1592 and everything is Direct Play!

Previously any EAC3 file would get transcoded, which would mean slow playback, even slower seeking, and then compounded with the transcode bug that meant I get 2 minutes of playback before it crashes. All this made Plex a chore to work with.

But not anymore! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! The Shield is amazing again! DIRECT PLAY FTW!

Eac3 is still transcoding for me.
