Pretty sure it is a feature missing as its always logged into primary user, on every update.
When logging into a device for the first time either by email or link function it defaults to the main user even if you have a pin set (when using local user accounts). It would be ideal to immediately go to the local user list. I will give kids access on a device, computer etc and have to then change user after logging in and then it will appear moving forward which forces the pin.
It especially happens on tablets, smart tvs, xbox etc.
That doesn’t help. It is intentional that the user selector screen is skipped when signing in for the first time. The idea for the user selector is that the app doesn’t know which user wants to use it. But when you first use it by using email/password or link code, it knows which user is doing this, so it selects that user.
Local Users don’t have any other credentials to login with than the one set for all users, so the assumption is very presumptive. It would be great to have an option to force local user selection screen when connecting to the media server from a device for the first time. I don’t want my kids watching kill bill vol. 1 if they jump on a computer at a friend’s house to watch a movie as an example.
If these are managed users, they shouldn’t have your credentials. The idea of managed users is that only you the admin is able to sign into an app the first time, the managed user shouldn’t be allowed. If you want to allow your kids to sign into a new device, you should make them a regular Plex account with their own credentials. You should never give out your credentials.
Early 2021 clean-up: works as designed; initial login requires admin user – subsequently, user selection will show whenever the app is started (except auto-login is enabled)
