After problems with a corrupted database I followed steps from Where is the Plex Media Server data directory located? | Plex Support to start from scratch by deleting the database file.
But I suggest a simpler set of instructions for the nVidia Shield. This is what I did for my 2021 Shield Pro.
Plex > Settings > locate Server > select stop
Shield > Settings > Apps > scroll and select See all apps > scroll to the end and select Show system apps > scroll again and select Plex Media Server
select Clear data (also automatically removes cache)
exit and reboot nVidia Shield
Plex > check Server (should be started)
start from scratch configuring libraries their contents have not been disturbed
You can also start over by deleting (uninstall updates) and re-updating PMS.
I did do that and it did not recreate the database. Although I don’t think (remember) that I cleared the data and cache.
Uninstalling updates should remove the old setup information, including the database.
But uninstalling updates? Not an option in the Google App Store or the nVidia settings when uninstalling an app.
Yes, on the Shield. The Plex client app and PMS apps both come pre-installed so you can’t “uninstall”, only “uninstall update”.
Thanks, but I do not understand the miscommunication here. I just checked and in the Google Play Store and the nVidia settings present the only option as “Uninstall”.
Either way uninstalling Plex did not work. Only the nVidia step of specifically clearing data and uninstalling just the Plex Media Server did.
