Firefox and Chrome same behavior. Since latest server update, web player won’t complete movie. It is stalling or buffering right at the end of a movie (2-3mins left) and will not continue to next movie in queue. It appears if you fast forward to end, then it will move on to next movie.
Do you know if the item is transcoding or direct playing?
I’m experiencing the same issue, this is happening on Direct Play on the latest version: Plex Media Server 1.25.2.5319-c43dc0277
is this the same for you @Foxtrot ?
if playing without skipping forward does it happen? and is it when using the 30sec jump or are you clicking on on the timeline bar. Edit - just realized I misread first post
Does browser being used matter at all?
Latest version of Firefox was being used.
For me, the MKV stops as if its waiting for the video to continue loading, w/ the spinning circle dead center. I either have to hit forward or stop the video altogether.
When I stop the movie, and restart it, picks up from the last spot where it froze. I can forward it with the 30sec jump forward option after the restart, and I can also fast forward by scrolling the timeline bar. I haven’t tried a different browser.
Also happened on:
Microsoft Edge - Version 96.0.1054.57 (Official build) (64-bit)
Video froze in the same spot @ 3:34, on a this browser as well.
In respects to the fast forward, while it hangs, the 30sec jump, will load the image of the scene it is jumping to, but the loading option never goes away and it does not start back up.
I am set to direct play. Only started doing it since around Monday/Tuesday this week when I updated to the latest server version. It was weird that both browsers did it at the same spot in multiple movies - entire movie plays fine, goes thru most of the end credits, then spins (like buffering) with about 1-3mins left. It will hang there until manual FF is hit then it will go to next movie in Playlist and repeat.
I have also seen the Firefox behavior Foxtrot mentions but to me it was the browser choking on a hairball. Restarting the browser resolves it for me but I only see it happen randomly.
Up until this week, I never have issues with Plex and I use it every day/night on multiple devices (Roku, Firestick, web browser).
Of course, as I type this, the movie I am watching just ended without issue and started next. Only difference is I was not full screen during the movie transition (I was in a new tab looking for the settings you requested). I’ll continue to monitor the issue and stop back with the details. Again, very weird…
*Edit: So the one movie finished and moved to next movie as noted but the remaining movies in the playlist stalled/stopped at the end of the credits (1-3mins left in movie) and required FF to finish.
Couldn’t deal with it not working correctly, as it was happening on the Roku for me as well. I ended up just rolling back to the last revision.
This is still happening to me as well when playing on a Mac running OS 11.6.2 with Chrome and when playing on a Playstation 5. The files are SD and HD .mkv’s played back using direct stream. The server is running on a Mac and is version 1.25.3.5409.
For me the issue described by OP seemed to happen around the same time as this:
This issue is still happening and now after upgrading to the latest version tonight, TV shows are buffering every 5-8mins.
Where are the older versions for download?
This appears to be fixed as of v1.27.1.5891!
