Dear Plex Support

For few days I am fighting with Plex server. Thought that maybe it is something on my side but it turns it is just you…

SSL change

Completed - The scheduled maintenance has been completed.
Jun 3, 10:30 UTC

In progress - Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary.
Jun 3, 08:30 UTC

Scheduled - On Thursday June 3rd, we’ll update our SSL certificates on our main authentication API. We don’t anticipate any downtime during this change
Jun 2, 21:13 UTC"

Since that date, remote access is basically broken.
If I wouldn’t be curious to do a little investigation, I would be constantly believing that maybe my ISP is going crazy or my firewall has decided to do something without informing me.

It has nothing to do with UPNP, nothing to do with port forwarding.
Spend now a good hour running pings to WAN IP, using different routers and?!

It turns that the only thing to change in order to have the remote access still running, was to disable the secure connection which is using Plex platform SSL which Plex team was messing with on the 3rd of June.

This is just ridiculous (paraphrasing Korvo from Sollar Opposites)!

Is anyone from Plex aware that you have broken the system?

Stop your server and try this

now I have to research how to access the cache to delete the certificates (using Plex on WD My Cloud NAS drive)

You tagged your post as QNAP.
The path on a Ex2ultra is

/mnt/HD/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/plex_conf/Plex Media Server/Cache, but I don’t know if it’s exactly the same for your device.

Do I need reset the cert ?

It will pull a new cert from Plex but won’t help if a local cert is interfering

sorry for the qnap, I must have been talking to my coworker about our new rack and got myself confused.

Sadly based on all the online topics, seems that I won’t be able to access the Plex files on the WD Cloud drive.
Thinking now about how to approach this.
In theory, I could just uninstall Plex from that drive and install again, but will loose the whole database that I was working on (for 3 days) with all the movie titles, subtitles and covers (not everything was pulled automatically).

You won’t lose it

Well. The situation is that the whole server is not working anymore.
The WD Cloud interface does not offer uninstalling/installing again.
It only has two buttons:
Turn off Plex and Configure

After turning Plex off and ON, the whole library is broken.
New library was created, old one can’t be linked (so many errors).
24 hours ago started moving the whole folders from one NAS drive to another.
To move 560GB it needed 24 hours.
Only 2TB left so maybe somewhere on Sunday, all data will be moved away.
I will completely wipe WD Cloud NAS drive and start again and then I will move 2.5TB data back onto the drive (another 3 days waiting).

At this particular moment, it seems that the whole SSL change has destroyed my Plex and I will have to start from the beginning :frowning:

Apparently your database got corrupted. Before starting over with your NAS, make sure you’re running the latest version of Plex. There’s a known issue with My Cloud Home (don’t know if it’s what you have) where you can only install a very old version of Plex which is incompatible with Android players (phones and Firetv)

You are right. It is MyCloud Home but I can’t agree that it is not compatible with Android players as I was using it for a good 5 months without any issues at all.
I have finally copied all the data to another NAS drive and will wipe WDMyCloud today.
As I am away for the weekend, I will remotely start copying data back onto WDMyCloud and will set up Plex from a scratch.
Plex on this WDMyCloud comes up as 1.18.6.2350

I’m aware. This version is over a year old, but I hope it works out

Plex reinstalled. as I am going away for the weekend I will start copying all the data back as it will take some time. Will post an update next week how it ended up
