Six disc CD box set showing as two albums

Hardware: synology DS214play, using DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 1 (I have just seen there’s an Update 2 available, but haven’t installed it yet).

I’ve just added a six-CD set of The Strauss Family music. They’ve been put in six folders, all with the Folder name The Strauss Family followed by [Disk 1], … [Disk 2] etc to [Disk 6].

Five of the six CDs appear in one album, but automatically given the Album name Willi Boskovsky: Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra, not the folder name of the music files (The Strauss Family [Disk n]). Within that album, the disks are correctly labelled as Disk 1, Disk 2, Disk 3, Disk 4, Disk 6.

But Disk 5 is in a separate album, and I can’t it get to merge with the other five disks into just one album.

I’ve checked the naming fields for each disk, and they appear identical (I’ve even copied and pasted between them) except for the Disk number. I’ve even been into the mp3 files with a Tag editor, and edited the metadata directly to be identical except for the Disk number across all the individual mp3 files.

I ripped them all in the same way, in order, using iTunes on my iMac High Sierra main computer, then copied the iTunes folders to my DiskStation.

What can I do to merge the two albums? I’ve tried Fix Match, I’ve tried Refresh Metadata.

I’ve searched this forum, and found only one relevant reference, and that was to a setting for Libraries [Advanced] that I don’t seem to have in my free Plex Server.

It’s annoying rather than fatal to have two separate albums, but I don’t understand why this has happened, nor how to fix it, and I’d like to.

Should all the disk folders on the server be separate subfolders of a parent ‘Box Set’ folder name The Strauss Family? Would that work? Should I try it?

Any other suggestions?

PS. In the ‘by artist’ view there’s only one entry, for Willi Boskovsky: Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra.

PPS. Is it relevant that Disk 5 includes different members of the Strauss family, and was originally categorised by iTunes as an album by Various Artists? Even after I changed the Album name (in the Plex client interface) back to Willi Boskovsky: Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra it didn’t merge

You must not only have identical ‘Album Title’ meta tags in all files but also
identical ‘Album Artist’ meta tags. (‘Track Artist’ can have varying content though).

After making sure of the above, perform the Plex Dance with the full album.
(with music, you can omit step 4 of the dance)
