In watching a show with a secondary audio track, the skip intro disappears as soon as select the second audio track and doesn’t come back. Subsequently, I have to skip intro and then change audio, unfortunately, this means I miss the a couple of seconds at the beginning unless I back up. Is this as designed, or should I be requesting a feature update?
How to Analyze TV Shows to Find Intros
When enabled, your Plex Media Server will analyze the beginning of each episode, looking for segments that match between the episodes. This is primarily done by analyzing the audio of the file, which would find a common theme song, for instance. Matching is done per season, as many shows have a different intro segment for each season
It sounds like your tv show is modifying the original audio to something else. Maybe dubbing it? ![]()
These are mash episodes and you have one audio with laugh track and one without. Why would switching from one to the other affect the skip intro function?
If the introduction sound is the same on both tracks, then I believe it should work, but If they are different then that’s probably the cause and I don’t know what Plex would do in this situation.
For example kids cartoons, they usually dub the music of the intro.
Hmmm, it should work regardless of audio, because we know the time to skip, regardless of the audio language. I’ll try to reproduce and follow this up internally
Thanks Dave. I look forward to hearing what you find. In case it is of interest, I am using the web client (4.54.5) on chrome (90.0.4430.93) under Linux (Ubuntu 20.10)
Dave, noticed that the latest update fixed the web client for this ‘skip intro’ issue. Appreciate that you got it addressed.
My only negative feedback is that it would also have been nice for you to post something here, so that we knew the fix was coming down the pike.
Sorry, have been on leave for the last two weeks, and trying to stay off work stuff
