Skip-intro timing

Server Version#: 1.20.2.3343

Player Version#: Plex Web 4.43.1

Description of issue: Some episodes of various shows put the ‘skip into’ at the wrong location. Some shows within the same season of the show are correct, while others are not. The XML shows that an intro exists. A force re-scan / analyze does not fix the issue. Is there a way to correct this? Some seasons when re-scanning put forth the error as seen below:
Untitled

Any ideas or suggestions? I love the feature when it works as expected!!!

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. start Plex Server
  5. wait 2 minutes
  6. recreate the issue
  7. wait 3 minutes
  8. fetch log files and attach them here

Will do! Thanks for the heads up! I wasn’t sure how to provide a useful log for the issue.
See attached. I will PM you the password for the .zip file…

I haven’t checked your logs but the snippet you posted above looks like the analysis is running into errors reading the files. Does the entire season have the same audio codec? The analysis works better when the files are consistent.

Good question I am honestly not sure. I will look into that and let you know. Since this is my thread I will ask another question as well in relation to intro timing… Is there any way to adjust it? There are some episodes of some shows where the skip shows up but it is entirely in the wrong place.

No. I think there’s a feature request to allow editing this.

FYI if you want to review the logs, let me know and I’ll shoot you the password to the .zip file.

Were the files of the affected episodes replaced (e.g. “quality upgrade”) at some point in the past?

No. They have not been replaced with better quality. These are all one-time files.

Verified that all files in one affected season are H.264 w/ AC3, and another season of another affected show are H.264 & EAC3.

Still seeing this same behavior on multiple episodes. It seems to bomb out at 85% with the following error:
Thread: Uncaught exception running async task which was spawned by thread 6964: bad allocation
