I’ve been using the desktop client for Ubuntu a lot lately. Usually, I put it in my other monitor and fullscreen it. But I’ve often noticed a flickering or shuddering that happens when playing at fullscreen. If I normalize the window I don’t see the flicker. If I maximize (but not fullscreen) I also see it. Thoughts through my mind are: Can the monitor (ViewSonic 32In 4k) simply not handle it? I don’t recall any similar problems with YouTube. Could it be a driver (Nvidia) issue? Maybe it’s an X11 issue.
I tried to capture it in a screen recording but can’t upload that here. You can see it from https://defaria.com/tmp/Plex.mkv (will auto delete in 7 days). The recording didn’t seem to exhibit the problem a lot - there was slight flickering. Maybe it’s a function of how busy my system is though my desktop is pretty powerful (Theilo).
