Smart Playlists

Server Version#: 1.20.3.3483
Player Version#: 4.34.4

Hello, I’m trying to create a smart playlist and and every time I save “filters” for “Track Plays” “is less than” and I select “2” for example and hit ENTER and then “APPLY” and the settings do not save. Whenever I go back in and review the settings it reverts the track plays to “is greater than” as opposed to what I selected previously “is less than”.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Hmm. Working fine for me.

Have you tried restarting PMS?

Yes - I thought that would be too simple of a remedy yet tried anyway to no avail.

I am running Plex on CentOS. Not sure if that makes a difference or not but I do notice some minor idiosyncrasies between the Windows and Linux versions such as this Track Plays bug.

Any other suggestions?

Use the hosted web app and not the local one: https://app.plex.tv

I tried the hosted web app - thanks for the suggestion.

Unfortunately, the hosted app is not any better though. Whenever I select “Track Plays” and then set “is less then” and in the next column type “2” hit ENTER and then click “Apply”, then go back to Playlists and select to “edit filters” for the updated playlist and notice that all settings revert to “Artist Title” and “contains” in the next column. This behavior is different than the local one and still not working.

I generally create my own playlists but notice that Plex replays a lot of songs that I have already listened to. The smart playlist and filters seemed to be the answer but not having any luck unfortunately…

Working fine still for me. You can see the playlist name so this is editing the previously saved filter.

Can you reproduce and provide screen shots at each step?

Try disabling any web browser add-ins or try the ‘incognito’/‘privacy’ mode.

!
This screenshot is the selected playlist with the default filter options.

This screenshot shows the filters selected and applied.

After saving, go back and then reselect the playlists section

Select “Edit Filters” of recently updated playlist.

Reviewing the recently updated Playlist and notice the settings are not saved.

These are screenshots from the hosted web app. Whenever I perform the same locally it changes to “greater than” and doesn’t save as “is less than”.

Is this enough reproduction at each step?

I tried those steps and still worked fine for me. I wonder if it’s your browser. I’m using Chrome. After you hit save, try reloading the page. It could be caching the previous page and reshowing it.

Thanks for the suggestions - now I feel like an ID10T.

I did not click “save” after clicking apply. Assumed, like Windows, that “apply” is similar to “save”. After clicking “apply” then “save” the settings actually stick.

Thank you community for the assistance, much appreciated!

Lol. Apply is so you can see what the results will look like. You still need to save to make it permanent.

Duly noted - thx!
