Is there any reason NO questions about Plex smart TV apps are answared?
Possibly because “smart” TVs are “stupid?” Sorry. I just have a REAL low opinion of "smart TVs and the apps thereof. They are rarely updated and poorly maintained and, probably, few people are working on the “smart” TV applications.
My suggestion is to get a real media player and hook it up to your “smart” TV and thereby have a real player that actually gets worked on and maintained and make your TV “smart” again.
Additionally, many (most?) Smart TVs require the dumbest of the Plex Processes - The DLNA Server. If for some (very likely) reason your Smart TV isn’t Smart enough to know it has to Direct Play everything you throw at through that DLNA Server you’re going to be missing some portions of the picmission that some would deem necessary - like the audio or the video or both.
Yea - I too would shoot right past Smart to Genius and get an STB that can at least tell Plex what it needs so Plex can transcode it.
One of The top Contenders in that category right now is a Roku 3 - it’s basically bulletproof.
My smart TV has a Plex App. Isn’t that a Plex developed app?
No. It’s probably developed privately - for instance:
