I do want the server logs but if you cannot get them because download button on server is not working then I will try to figure out what I can with the IOS logs.
the URL you posted are not links to logs and no one but you on your local network would be able to access that URL You can manually get them directly in the filesystem of your Synology , there are directions in the server logs link, but it may be a bit complicated.
there was also an access token in that URL which you should never post publically
Can you please disable verbose logging. restart your server/synology , wait a minute or until you can access with browser fine. try to connect with one of the iOS devices (i know it wonât work) and then get the server logs again.
OK all logs uploaded as rquired - no verbose - Im at my technical limits now - So very much looking forward to a solution from here on in - signing off to allow you the time to understand what has broken and what minimally needs doing to fix it.
Just for additional perspectives on âPlex broke iOSâ; On both of my iPads Iâm having zero issue. One is an old Air and one is a recent Pro. Iâm running the latest public version of Plex server on Synology DSM 7 as of 11/2/2021. I have had zero issues with updating my server software using the public versions (as opposed to beta which by nature can have hiccups occasionally).
I have clicked save again having turned verbose mode off. The attachment has the latest logs again Please confirm you finally have everything you need to get this fixed without trashing the server and starting with a new install (which is what an upgrade effectively is)
By the way - I can see lots of other people have similar âplex no longer works on my iphone / samsungâ devices.
I appreciate the note - but Plex server running at the moment works on ALL other platforms we have tried , desktops, chrome browsers, iphone app (same OS) Yet suddenly its stopped working with ipads. (and only the ipads keep saying "choose which of your two servers, when there is only ONE server âWe see you have access to two serversâ (well actually no we dont, - and plex contradicts itself in giving this message as then it offers a drop down choice there IS only one server)
In terms of the upgrade - as we are a tiny unfunded education charity - we dont have support budgets but volunteers, and none of our experts have any experience in this area. If we could get expert help with upgrading (IF it turns out to stop EVERYTHING working when we upgrade) then we might consider it. But until now - we need to understand why ONLY ipads have now stopped working, despite being on the same ios version as the iphone which works just fine.
upgrading the server is not trashing an existing install. It is just updating it like updating any other app on your computer/NAS/phone etc. There is always the possibility you donât like new features or changes in the newer versions of course. To be clear I am not trying to force you to update, but I also donât know how long issue will take to fix after we find out what it is.
I donât know if it is everything we need as I donât know what the issue is yet. But your logs are all we can get from you so thank you for providing them
They are mostly all on old versions of server like you. Unfortunately folks on certain Western Digital NASs cannot update. or for Samsung TVs they are using device that no longer work with secure connections at all due to a change in security certificates that happened on Sept 30th.
Just checking in for update. Please could you give a rough idea when a fix will be offered - having carried out all the acivities I was asked to do - so I dont keep checking in here.
Ive been unable to use my ipads for plex for several weeks now - and would appreciate being able to resume using them as paid for poducts (each ipad)
I canât say how long something will take to fix until we are sure of the root cause of the problem. There is something related to how security certificates are generated we are focusing that we think might be the issue but it has the potential to break many other things if we make a change that ends up being not the real cause of issue.
I agree it is so important to understand what has suddenly triggered this before guesswork like re-installing Plex / updating Plex (solely bcuase of the utter chaos, confusion and lack of technical resource that will cause the charity)
But yes - with Samsung and Ios mobile users reporting things have been broken it is clear a fix is urgently needed
So this is a final post on this thread froml the OP.
Without updating or reinstalling Plex (as endlessly suggested - sometimes less than politely) without updating the apps here or anything else - without even rebooting - without doing ANYTHING at all at this end, suddenly P;ex resumed talking to my IOS devices
So I hate to say this - but - I was right all along - as clearly NONE of these issues ever had ANYTHING to do with my setup - someone else âbroke plexâ and clearly someone has now fixed it.
If anyone knows why - and would like to let me know, that would be nice to know - but as of BigWheels last email two weeks ago - and nothing since (Not sure why) - I have heard nothing more.
My guess? Issues around certificates, or authentication or DNS with the plex âmaster websiteâ or whatever it is called.
But whatever it was - it is clear someone has quietly fixed it (but didnt tell me)
