Did we inspect your log files? (whole zip please!)
Not yet… I assume I need to replicate the problem before I export the logs?
Yes, that makes sense.
OK, I’ll get to that later this evening.
Thanks Otto.
OK, I have some logs for you… Can I send them to you via a PM?
Yes, please.
Logs sent…
Here are the timestamps of the actions taken…
19.42 - Move Behind the Scenes folder out of movie location (essentially deleted them)
19.43 - Refresh Metadata - Still there
19.44 - Analyze - Still there
19.45 - Scan Lirary Files - Still there
19.46 - Empty Trash - Still there
Now by moving something different into place, PMS actually reflects a change…
19.48 - Move into place Other folder
19.49 - PMS auto scans for changes - Extras go, Other appears
19.50 - Scan library
19.51 - Empty trash
Now do the reverse…
19.52 - Move Other aside
19.53 - Refresh Metadata - Other still there
19.54 - Scan Library Files - Other still there
19.55 - Move Behind the Scenes into movie location
19.56 - PMS auto scans for changes - Other goes, correct extras appear
And here is the folder structure for this movie…
As mentioned previously, if we can fix the deletion of extras, then all scenarios that come after that (replacing, moving to a different location) then become a non-issue, as we just delete then move on.
Could you determine the content of the guid="... property from the Plex XML info of this movie please?
This??
guid=“com.plexapp.agents.themoviedb://296524?lang=en”
Yep. Looks like you are still using the old “TheMovieDatabase” agent.
In which case, I’m afraid you’ll have to Plex Dance.
Consider switching to the new agent, as the old ones very likely won’t see another update/bugfix.
Ah ok… I guess I just do “Upgrade Matching” and then follow it through?
Yes. However, this is a one-way street. After you do this, the library cannot be converted back.
To finish the operation, you’ll have to perform Refresh Metadata on all items. I recomend you to start this before you go to bed.
OK, thanks Otto.
I’ll kick this off tonight and will let you know the result in a few days.
Many thanks for your help with this
Another idea: did you point this library to more than one folders/drives/shares and if so, is one of these currently not available/absent/completely empty?
Up until 2 or 3 weeks ago, every library only pointed to a single unique location.
I have recently added a 2nd folder to each Movies library in order to be able to start gradually moving / spreading some content across a new additional RAID array, however both of the new folders do have content in them, and this problem has been apparent for many months now, maybe even over a year.
The only reason I have raised this issue now, is because I am finding it even more awkward to move select items to the 2nd location, when they have extras.
Hi @OttoKerner - I can confirm that after upgrading the Movie library to the new agent, it is now possible to delete the extras, and because of this, replacing them for different versions or moving a movie with extras to a different drive will no longer be and issue.
Many thanks for your help, and I have marked your suggestion as the Solution…
