*Solved * Connection to Plex Media Server lost on Android Devices after Updating PMS to 1.3.2.3112

I updated the Plex Media Server to 1.3.2.3112 and now anyone with an Android device is unable to play media.

The message displayed is "Playback has stopped because the connection to the Plex Media Server has been lost. Please ensure that the server is available and retry.

Is anyone else having the same problem?

some users are reporting problems with Android and secure connections. This has begun only within the past few days.

Has there been an android update and can you try playing with with Secure Connection ‘preferred’ or completely off?

Followup. A number of users thought, by turning on Jumbo Frames, they would get more throughput. This is counterproductive and PMS will be unable to maintain a stable connection unless all devices have jumbo frames enabled. The primary problem with this is a) not all devices support jumbo frames and b) jumbo frames are entirely pointless and result in overwhelming fragmentation when using cellular data which uses a 53 byte packet (48 byte payload + 5 byte header).

If you have them enabled, please turn them off before attempting to diagnose further.

I checked the secured connections and they are already set to prefered, i changed them to disabled but the problem still exists.

I have also noticed that both the Windows app and internet browser (Chrome) are not working, however it does work for Xbox & IOS.

I have noticed that some media does play, it looks like anything that can use Direct Play works ok on all devices, but anything that needs transcoding does not work on Android or Windows.

I have also discovered that i’m unable to optimize any of the media which fails to play, it looks like this issue could be related to transcoding.

To add in here, I’ve noticed that my FireTV (v2) and FireTV Stick (v2) both lost their ability to connect to Plex after upgrading Plex to Version 1.3.2.3112

Disabling the secure connections only on the client side for each device was a workaround for the issue.

I have just tried this on one of the Fire TV Sticks and it makes no difference, the stick will play some files, just not those that need transcoding.

I uninstalled and reinstalled PMS and it’s fixed everything
