I have not seen this solution in any post, so I decided to share. The issue I was having is similar or same as many other posts I see where an Amazon Fire Stick 4K will play media content fine, but when you try to watch live tv from a HD Home Run (Plex DVR), it plays for a few minutes and then suddenly exits to the guide or home. I actually bought a Roku Ultra because I have had this issue for quite a while, about a year now.
While reading through the forums, a user mentioned putting a beta version and changing a setting. Well, I looked at the Plex options in the FireTV settings → Manage Installed Applications → Plex. Shows an option for “Permissions”. I clicked it and the default was set to deny. I changed it to allow and started up Plex to watch a live TV show. Low and behold, problem solved!! I have 2 other Firestick 4k devices. Changed the permissions setting on both of those and confirmed now that all of my firestick devices can play live tv without issue.
