[Solved] Moved/ splitted media server - connection issues afterwards

Hi Plex-aficionados,

I moved (cloned) my Plex server to another PC using this way…

After that I moved a part of the media content, which I wanted on the other instance and cleaned up the library. So far it works like a charm.

Problem is, both servers are in the same local network/ ip-range and all my players (PC-browser, Android, Fire-TV, LG semi-proprietary player) seems to have an issue conecting/ switching between the servers. It’s more like a guessing-game which server answers faster, as long as I’m not selecting the server I want by the ip.

I assume the server has some sort of internal ID and it appears to the client/ player two times. Any suggestions how I can solve this?

If you “cloned” it, both machines now are using the same machineID.
You need to make them unique again.
see I want to backup my Genre tags from one server and restore them onto a new server
