I’ve been frustrated with this for a while. Went through lots of hoops with my AT&T Nokia firewall. Tried multiple iterations of port forwarding and the like.
Turns out the problem was that I had my Mac mini set up so that it could access my network via either an ethernet connection or a wifi connection. That meant two different IP addresses depending on the connection method and I couldn’t get it to reliably work remotely. Simply switched to only using the wired connection and it works great now consistently.
Thought I’d post this here to help anyone else who has the same issue so they don’t go down as many unnecessary rabbit holes.
