[SOLVED] No multichannel audio on Windows

Server Version#: 1.16.2.1321
Player Version#: 2.37.2.996-bea4f9ca-windows-x64

Playing multi-channel audio through either plex-web (in firefox) or from the plex-media-player results in stereo audio only.

Sample video: Dolby Digital Amaze Sample with 6ch AC-3 audio.

If I copy the video locally and play it with VLC I get full surround.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure web browsers support multi-channel audio.

For Plex Media Player:

  1. If in default desktop mode, put player in TV mode. Click on the TV icon in upper right.

  2. Click on your user icon / avatar & choose settings → audio.

  3. If device type is Basic, change to HDMI or Optical if sending audio to receiver, etc.

NOTE: You may have to exit, then re-enter, Settings to see effects of changing Device Type.

  1. You should now see choices for Channels (2.0/5.1/7.1) and which audio codecs to passthrough.

Totally missed that menu. I should have known to go looking for more settings there. That’s where it would be on my Roku(s). I didn’t think there would be more/different settings there than in the non-TV view. My mistake to make that assumption.

Thank you!
