After my recent update to 1.14.0.5470, I noticed that Plex Media Server stopped running (icon disappeared from the toolbar, service was not running). I restarted PMS, it ran for roughly 8 seconds, then crashed again. I did a quick search and found this page that outlines various steps to address this issue. Unfortunately it did not help. I continued to search my PC for things I may have added/modified that would cause PMS to crash. I went as far as going back in time (Windows restore point) just to make sure it wasn’t anything Windows related that was causing troubles. I still had the same issue. This led me to believe it was strictly a PMS issue.
I did have some 3rd party stuff interacting with Plex so I removed that stuff too. I still had the same crashing problems (every 8 or so seconds). I was able to navigate through the server settings whilst getting disconnected constantly. I noticed that my HDHomeRun was still connected and my Live TV and DVR was trying to update my guide. I immediately deleted my HDHomeRun from the Live TV and DVR settings in PMS. Good news: PMS kept running.
Apparently there was something with regard to updating my guide or my DVR settings that PMS didn’t like. I apologize in advance for not posting my log files. I am working remotely now, so as I write this I don’t have access to them. I mainly wanted to post this in case someone has a similar issue. This could be another possible place to look.
I have since reinstalled my HDHomeRun and have my Live TV and DVR settings back to how they were. I have also downloaded the most recent guide. All seems well.
