I’ve enabled file permissions and can see that they work because Plex can see the files within the libarary when add the folder (screenshot below). However, when I click Scan Library Files, it finishes in 1 second and only shows “Movies” is empty.
What other steps might I be missing?
Did you remember to “Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files” when you set the permissions ?
It’s possible to read the directory but not be able to read the file.
Yes, and I can verify it by using Plex to see the files in /volume1/media/Video/Movies/ (screenshot 2 above) even when the permission is granted on /volume1/media (screenshot 1 above).
Argh you Synology! So the recursive permissions only applied to files & directories that existed at the time. I added the media after setting the permissions.
This will be a problem for me going forward as Plex won’t see any newly-added media. Guess I’ll go over to the Synology forums for that problem.
