For ~2 weeks, the PMS is no longer scanning my tv shows media intros.
I’ve checked my settings and made sure that the following options are set (please bear with me, as I’m using the German UI language and don’t know the exact English wording):
Settings>Server>Library>Mark intros>Scheduled task and when media is added
Library>Manage library>Edit…>Advanced>Enable intro detection
As soon as I’m adding a new media, everything is just working fine, the scanner and the agent are doing their job. Normally, after the scan is done, you can see on the upper right Activities icon, that PMS is working, and hovering the mouse over the icon showed that it’s scanning for intros.
Now, no activity after the scanning is shown. Even forcing the intro detection by ‘Analyze’ is not doing anything.
Playing the media is indeed not showing the Skip Intro button.
Media files older than 2 weeks are offering the skip feature.
There was no change for the used scanner or agent in the last previous months.

Analyzing the show for intro detection doesn’t necessarily mean the show qualifies for intro detection. On some shows even from season to season it’s just not going to work. (your settings appear to be correct)
Now, if half the season of a show works and the other half you just added doesn’t, maybe there’s a problem
Like inter5tella, I do also have a question about the “analyze” option. I would expect when I click analyze, it should trigger an intro detection even if the show already had it done when it was added. It appears to do nothing and the activity button lights up for a half a second and stops.
Also your support article on this subject says, “If you have multiple copies of the same episode only one will be analyzed to try and detect the intro”
Now, if I replace a show by putting the new copies in the same folder, letting it scan as a duplicate, then delete the old copies. (to keep original date added)
Does that mean the new copies do NOT have the intro detection because the old copies already did? Should I do that manually by analyzing them? (Which doesn’t appear to do anything)
Oh btw, your intro detection support article doesn’t include HTPC as a supported player. I believe it is?
Indeed, I’m referring to tv shows where PMS was able to detect the intro for the first 6-8 seasonal episodes and is now not able to scan within the same season anymore.
Seems like an update to PMS 1.28.2.6106 and a service restart did the trick. Intro scanning is now working again if a new media is added or by using ‘Analyze’.
