Some characters not displayed correctly in Lyrics

In the screenshot, the left side shows what Plex Web displays for lyrics. On the right is the text file supplying the lyrics:

Does the file use the UTF-8 text encoding?
I have also an Irish lyrics file and it works that way.

It is UTF-8.

Could you zip up the file and send it my way, please?

Which platform is the web browser running on, and on what platform is the server?

This is all Windows, where it works with both ANSI and UTF-8(BOM):

Sent the lyric file via PM.
The server is Linux Mint 19.3 64 bit.
Issue is seen on:

  • Plex Web 4.39.1
  • Firefox 79.0 (64-bit) on same linux box
  • Firefox 79.0 (64-bit) on Windows 10
  • Chromium Version 83.0.4103.61 on linux
  • MS Edge 84.0.522.52 64-bit on Windows 10
  • Plex for Android-TV on nVidia Shield.

I just looked at the lyrics provided by Lyricfind, and I see the same character there.

I have that song too, and the lyrics display correctly.

So there’s definitely something odd about the one where I see the problem.

My editor identifies this file as using “TIS-620”. Which is a Thai encoding.
And it appears in notepad++ just as it appears in Plex.
However, the Windows notepad opens it as UTF-8.
So something must be amiss.

If this is indeed UTF-8, maybe it requires a byte-order-marker, to make it clear to any software opening that file.
I’ve sent you a version with BOM.
