Some files won't run smoothly. Framerate?

Sorry for reposting, but in the plex synology thread is no response.

 

first I have to say great work bwynants!! Great job! :-)

 

I did a quick test in my environment. Two critical 1080p's are working fine. But some of my 720p series are having trouble. Sound is really smoothly, but video isn't good. I wouldn't say that is stuttering, it's more not running smoothly.

Is there an issue regarding video framerate 25fps and 23,976fps?

 

BTW: ATV3 with latest iOS, PMS 0.9.7.28, DSM DSM 4.2-3202

The ATV does not support native 24FPS but should still play it.

What happens if you try and play both using the desktop or even more telling the iOS client?

With iOS I don't know exactly, I will check this later. With PLEX for Samsung it's working fine, no problems with video (framerate).

The problem file is coded with a framerate of 25fps. 24fps (23,9xxfps) is working fine on ATV3.

Try remuxing to MP4 and check it via iTunes/Homesharing, too. How does it behave then?

I had the same problem but fixed it by setting the output of the Apple TV to 1080p@60hz and turning on TruMotion (Probably called different on other TV's). 

It worked for me on my LG TV, perhaps it works on yours too.

I experienced the same problem. I have this on my Apple TV 3 (plexconnect) and also on my Mac-Mini. When i watch the movie via my browser it plays smoothly. This issue occurs when something moves and the camera is moving.

23,xx fps are no problem. 25 fps is making trouble.

With iOS client and files with 25fps there are no problems. It is playing very well. Using webclient of PLEX server is also perfect.

I tried different settings and it was a little bit better, but not playing well. It would not be an option to change settings again and again before playing a video file.

I don't understand why PlexConnect and RasPlex is making trouble with 25fps and iOS, PLEX for SamsungTV not. Could anybody explain that?

So you tested with exactly the same file on the Plex iOS client and PlexConnect (it is not clear from your reply if you did)?

Please provide a sample of one of the problem files if the answer to the above is yes.

I don't know if it is exactly the same file from my first post. It was a file with 25fps.

You are assuming that 25fps is the problem.

Test using the same file and see what happens, if you get the same result then post a sample of it and link to it here.
