Server Version#: 1.30.1.6562-7000
Hi, all. I am using Plex Media Server on my Synology, and I have noticed that some folders do not work – specifically, I have a library called “Other shows” that is a “Other videos” type library, and it has valid folders assigned to it, and files inside the folders, but the library just doesn’t work.
When I say “the library just doesn’t work,” specifically what I mean is: When I am viewing the library in any Plex client (macOS, Apple TV, Roku, iPhone, doesn’t matter) the library shows up as a “?!” symobol next to it (a ? in a gray circle, next to a ! in a yellow circle).
This is not a recent issue: over the course of a year or so, I have tried various things to get these libraries working, but they never do.
The libraries did used to work, once upon a time. I do not know what changed to make them not work.
I would really like to get these folders working; anybody have any ideas on what I’m doing wrong? Thanks.
Can you show me?
Screenshot and/or your server logs ZIP file after you try to access it?
Here’s the library in the listing. I will get the logs soon.

There are no logs to gather – it is not possible to browse these libraries.
I looked at what Plex.tv knows of your server.
It sees 14 Library sections. Is this corect?
Yes, 14. I just confirmed on my server.
Now that I know what i’m looking at, may I have the server DEBUG log files ZIP after you try to access some of that ?
There’s no way to access it – clicking on the library does nothing. It’s simply not available.
You do have sufficient access to the machine for Syno desktop and Package Manager ?
Hi Chuck. Yes, it is my Synology. I can SSH into it if that helps.
I’m thinking of how to get the logs (manually captured)
-
SSH into it
-
sudo bash (jump to root)
-
synopkg stop PlexMediaServer
-
cd "/var/packages/PlexMediaServer/shares/PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server"
-
tar cf SynoLogs.tar.gz ./Logs
-
Now you can scp them back to you or do what you want from Filestation to download it and attach here.
