As of 4 June 2024, The Plex Movie Agent finds and matches Some Like It Hot, but there is no poster. The result is that a random screengrab from the movie is used instead.
The rights holders requested that Plex, or their poster provider, take down the poster. This has happened with several movies.
You can check the movie at watch.plex.tv. If the poster is not there, then assume it was a DCMA takedown.
You can add your own poster to the movie. Details available at Plex Docs → Your Media → Local Media Assets - Movies.
I think this could be a widespread announcement since it happened a lot of (old) movies in my library and I was dabbling with Agents for hours now.
There’s surely no workaround? Because I can see all those movies still have their TMDB posters up and running.
The workaround is to save the chosen poster from TMDB and store it as poster.jpg beside the video file.
Then Refresh Metadata and select it.
