ExportTools
It would have the same ‘hash’ as an already existing file. And this would make the Plex Dance useless. The Plex Dance is designed to remove the hash of a certain file from the database, so that the wrong “match” that is stuck on it can be removed.
[dane22] Thanks, that looks like it would be great. Unfortunately, after very carefully following the install instructions step-by-step, I got it to reload the libraries, but from then on it doesn’t seem to do anything. I can tweak settings all I want, click SAVE and the plug-in closes. No output is generated. I have tried using a Plex Web Client on my regular home desktop, and also from the client running directly on the PMS computer. No results.
FWIW, I tried updating WebTools (which I already had) to the latest version, but I can never connect to it – even with my firewall disabled. So I did the manual install.
I was reading the troubleshooting page and learned about the logs, which appear to be filled with these messages (it looks to me like I am missing something needed by the plugin?):
2020-04-25 07:22:44,128 (bc0) : CRITICAL (core:574) - Exception happened in WriteRow-status was [Error 2] The system cannot find the file specified (most recent call last):

return os._rename(longpathify(uni(src)), longpathify(uni(dst)))
WindowsError: [Error 2] The system cannot find the file specified
I need all ET logs in a zip, and not just a snip
[dave22] Ask and you shall receive
com.plexapp.plugins.ExportTools.log.zip (61.5 KB)
[dane22] I got it working! I did not see that restarting the PMS was required and since ExportTools was apparently detected and loaded automatically, I tried to use it, and the settings dialog appeared and sorta functioned.
But, after doing a restart, my logs have logs of DEBUG lines and no CRITICAL ERROR lines.
My only remaining issue was that the checkbox to ignore the path I entered for output was checked and that was a very non-obvious option, since (to me) leaving the path field empty meant “use the default” while filling in a path means “use what I entered.”
But all is working now, thanks for the tool, it will definitely help me find the ‘broken’ movies.
One (2-part) question and I will go away: What does “mp4 - mp4” mean for the container (I understand just mp4 or mkv, etc. but not the double)? and Are all of the additional ‘special’ containers like this one documented somewhere? Thanks!
That you have two medias, both for the same movie, and they are both mp4’s
These could be “duplicate” items (which are candidates for verifying mismatches)
But also multi-part movies or movies with optimized versions appear like that.
Just wanted to thank you guys for this post. I had the same issue with X-Men (2000) not being recognized and being mislabeled as Men of Honor, which I would not have known if not for this post.
