I have over 200 movies in my library and noticed that some of them the cast list only shows “WinXD Video Converter Deluxe” which is one of the tools I use to create the video file. But I have been using basically the same routines to create the MP4s and only some of them have a good cast list and others have the WinXD as the only cast member. I have reset my settings to grab the cast from IMDB and then refreshed the metadata with no luck and created new movies with the same setting and still some have the WinXD as the only cast member. Interestingly there are old and brand new movies in the mix that share the problem.
How can I force the library to grab the actual cast information and other missing metadata from IMDB or another website and update those movies (around 50 so far)?
In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under
Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase
Afterwards, retry Refresh Metadata on the affected movies.
Of course this is just a band aid. The ‘proper’ solution would be to remove the shameless self-promotion of WinXD from the embedded meta tags.
On Windows, you can try mp3tag
I actually stumbled across this fix yesterday and did refresh metadata and it is now working. I do not know why some worked and some did not before, but it now seems to work out.
Thanks again for your suggestion, and I am glad that what I accidently found was actually a solution.
