Some movies not playing when downloaded subtitle is selected

Hello, I am having an odd issue with subtitles on my Shield.
I am running the PMS off a PC (not off the Shield itself) with files hosted on a Synology box. The problem is that some files play fine, but when I select a subtitle through opensubtitles.org and try to start the file, the little circle keep spinning and the file never plays/resumes. As soon as I deselect the subtitle, it’s fine again.
The odd thing is that I have other files where I can use opensubtitles.org subs without a problem. The other odd thing is that the same files that give me problems on my Shield play just fine on the web player or my Android phone (app).
I looked through the forums, but didn’t see posts about the same issue. Anybody have any idea what the problem could be? If I were to provide logs, should they come from the the Shield or the PMS?

On the Shield, do you have the option enabled to “Automatically Adjust” under the Quality settings? There is a bug with this setting and subtitles. Turn off the setting and it should work.
