Some movies that were showing in my library now showing as missing

Server Version#: DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 2 DS918+
Player Version#: installed version 1.25.2.5319-6000

I have an issue with some movies that were in my library and watched a number of times suddenly show up as missing. the movies are still in the same folders, in plex if i set the view to folders i can see the folder of the movies but when i click into the folder is says Empty Folder
There are no items in this folder.
Please let me know what more information you need.

When you say they’re missing… do you mean they’re actually gone or are they listed with the trash-can overlay (indicating they’re still listed in your library but not currently accessible to the server)?

Basic troubleshooting could start checking the file permissions to confirm Plex can actually still access them. In addition you could check your library for duplicates to see if they might have been accidentally merged with another item under a different movie name (filter by Duplicates) …

Thanks for the reply. the files are on my Nas but plex doesnt see them or more accurately forgets them. Dune for example was there and watched many times and i noticed it was showing up as missing.

I did a scan emptied the trash, scanned again and it didnt show up. i then deleted the dune and downloaded it again and it showed up as a newly added movie.

I have the same kind of thing happening with tv shows. You can see in the screenshots that plex cant see the shows but when i click on them to play them they do play just fine but if was to empty the trash plex would no longer seem them.

Even stranger it seems to not see a show but when i click in it does see a season but not the others , again if i click on a missing episode it plays just fine.

I have plex installed directly as an app on my syno nas and the install is from the plex website, do you know in that case what user plex is running under so i can check the permission?
No duplicates were showing up

On DSM 6 that should be the service account plex.

From your description it almost seems like Plex is temporarily missing the files when doing an automatic/scheduled library scan. It appears it still has access to the files… given they’ll still play
