Some of my biggest issues (& wishes)

Important:

Server-side PlexPass checks (Multi-user support)

On iOS if somebody shares his server with your account, you can use all his plex-pass features, even tho you are not subscribed yourself. Similarly the XB1 client shouldn't do the plexpass checks itself, but instead only connect to servers with a paid subscription. I don't understand why it works any differently right now. Multi-user IS an advertised plexpass feature - and it’s unusable with the XB1 client unless you get a subscription for everyone in your household.

The strange requirement that all users of the server need a separat subscription combined with the restriction that a plex account can only be linked with a single xbox account makes plex on the xb1 almost usless to me. (And no, don’t tell me now to create a shared xbox account for plex… that’s workaround is just too ugly for my taste. Multi-user support of the plex server was one of the reasons why i paid for plexpass in the first place)

Native Subtitle support

This is one of my biggest issues right now. Subtitles requiring transcoding is _absolutely_ horrible. The fact that apps like TED seem to use the OS’s playback framework too and are able to display native subs means the “we have to wait for MS” excuse just doesn’t cut it here…

Less Important:

App-global settings for quality

Using anything but the highest quality will completely kill your server (if you have a slow one) since it requires transcoding. This shouldn’t be an option next to the subtitles selection (that somebody can change accidentally)

24p and DTS support

I understand that the XB1 doesn’t expose any APIs to switch to 24p right now and since plex decided to use the xb1’s media player framework instead of writing their own, native DTS will just have to wait until Microsoft adds support.

So 24p is completely dependant on MS - but for DTS, at least it would be nice if there was an option to switch DTS transcoding from (lossy) AC3 to (lossless) PCM. Im connected with gigabit ethernet to my server, I wouldn’t mind the high bandwidth requirements - However, I DO mind the loss in quality caused by the AC3 transcoding. That way we could even get all the nice losses DTS-MA / DDHD quality without having to wait for microsoft to add support…

I'll not renew my Plex Pass until that subtitle issue be resolved. Always when I choose subtitles my videos just freeze...
