Some recordings save to videos- how do I change and how do I choose folder to write to?

From EPG, some programmes will only let me record to TV programmes, others only to videos- it won’t let me choose. Why is this, and if it must stay this way how do I choose which of the multiple folders I have setup for videos new programmes record to. If I can’t do this volumes will run out of space.

I created a Folder in my Movies Library called - DVR Movies
I created a Folder in my TV Show Library called - DVR Shows
(or, at least my next folders will named as such)

I added those Folders to each respective Library - they didn’t yet contain a thing.

Then when selecting where to send recordings, I selected those locations once - and Plex made them the defaults.

It’s been a while, but I think that’s how it went.

Job #1 was creating folders for DVR stuff to go to - so I wouldn’t have to chase them down in a sea of a million items. Better to have those million DVR items in the same ‘Herd’.

You can also put those folders anywhere you want - or make new ones when necessary.

… and if there is a limit to the number of folders in one library - I haven’t hit it:

Thanks, the multiple folders have appeared and hopefully last choice will work- find out tomorrow!

Still not clear why Plex are deciding that some things are videos, some tv, etc and not just giving people the choice.

Well, you mean Movies or Shows.

Those two items can’t go in the same library, so Plex decides for us (sometimes wrongly) and names our stuff so it can be found.

Most of the time it’s right.

Sometimes, however - you’ll be glad you know where it is…lol
