Sometimes when I record shows with my Hauppage WinTV-quadHD (ATSC) it’ll only record a small part of the show. I can’t troubleshoot it because the transcoder processes it anyways. For example, I tried to record America’s Test Kitchen, and I received, in the end, a file that’s 20mb in size but 26 hours long. The file refuses to play in Plex, and playing the file in Media Player Classic shows it works for 20 seconds until it crashes MPC. I don’t know if it’s a poor reception or something going horribly wrong during transcoding the TS file.
What is your os. I was experiencing a problem that was a little similar on my server. I ended up reloading my server because the install was very old install that had allot of install and uninstalla done on it. My setup was based on windows home server 2011. All ia good now after the reload.
I’m on Windows 10 professional.
Is it install you have had for sometime and is it used for general computing as well.
Yes, I use it for general computing, but one of these recordings was 2 in the morning.
Yea. The issue I was experiencing had issues at all times of the day no matter what my server was doing or how busy it was. Did you get good playback before the upgrade. What happens if you watch tv from the with app. Does it come in clear consistently in that app.
@Korthall Can you try to delete your DVR and re-add it and see if it fixes it? And if not, just for troubleshooting purposes, can you backup your existing db and try with a brand new one?
I re-added the DVR, haven’t done the database backup yet. When I was watching some Live TV, I kept getting prompts that another show that was recording was failing to record. I went and looked at the recording schedule and not only did it show that show was failing to record, it was showing another show that doesn’t start until 2 hours in the future fail to record!! I still have the crazy partial record file if you want to see it. I don’t think you can commit copyright infringement for 20 seconds of distorted video.
