I have been using plex on my DS918+ for months and the DVR has been working fine until this week.
Here is a partial screen shot of recordings - calendar view.
As you can see, in the yesterday column Bull and Manifest show that recording has completed but they have not changed to the play button like “the passage” and “magnum pi” have. Also note that under the Today column “NCIS” is the same.
When I look at the recordings under “recently added TV” Bull, Manifest and NCIS are missing (they should be there since the shows are over.
I assume that “the gifted” and “FBI” will have the same problem when they finish recording.
Here is a screen shot of the activity:
As you can see all 5 of the previously mentioned shows are in it. Also “Live TV - Session” which I have no idea what that is.
Is there anything I can do to “save” these shows?
If I cannot save them what should I do to get plex DVR to start to work again?
Update:
As of this morning live TV will no longer play. I have 3 Roku devices and they all do the same thing resulting in “live TV services could not be started”. I assume all of the resources are tied up.
Here is a copy of the Activity dropdown in the plex server app:
Notice that now in addition to the previously recorded 5 shows (see previous post), there are now two “recording: Live TV - Session”. Given I have a HD Homerun which has only 2 tuners this probably is why live TV isn’t working as all the tuner resources are tied up in these bogus recordings. There are two of us in the home and neither of us has started a recording of live tv so I have no idea where these have come from.
I have not used this forum much so i apologize if I have done something wrong.
Have I posted my question to the wrong forum?
Should I have included some information which I have left out?
Is there a place I should post that I would be more likely to get a response to my problem?
Without any input I am going to reset my server before tomorrow evening as I have more recordings scheduled for that time and also since live TV is no longer available. I hesitate to do this because I was hoping I would be able to recover the 5 recordings which appear to be recorded but not saved.
Last night I went to synology package center/installed and clicked on plex and then selected stop, waited a few minutes then start.
When I opened plex the activity dropdown (which I had previously shown screenshots was empty. None of the shows that were in it had been saved. The live TV that was being recorded were all gone. I had one show scheduled to be recorded after the plex restart and it was recorded correctly and the activity dropdown is empty after the recording finished. It is still empty as of checking it this morning and live TV had been watched prior to checking.
My main concern at this point is that the shows which appeared to have been recorded but are not present within plex are somewhere on the disk taking up space and hopefully not corrupting the disk structure. Is there any way I can check the disk to see that it has not been corrupted? If you know of a post that describes how to do this please include it.
I have been keeping close watch on plex since my problems above.
I just realized I did not post the version I am running - 1.14.1.5488-cc260c476 (which I believe is the latest version from the plex download for synology and 64 bit). This is the version in which the above problem occurred. I got this information from the synology package center/installed/plex.
This morning I noted the following:
Here is a screenshot from recordings/calendar view:
Note that at 9:00pm hawaii five-o is shown as being scheduled to be recorded. This is the first time I have noticed that something scheduled to be recorded does not appear in the recordings/calendar view.
I want to point out one other thing.
I use roku on each TV to run plex. Here is a screenshot of what the plex activity dropdown look like when I am watching a show (live TV that is being played - NOT recorded):
As you can see it shows that 1 show is playing but it additionally shows that there is a recording. After taking this screenshot I went back to the roku and exited plex back to the main menu. When I came back and looked at the activity dropdown there was nothing there (which I would expect since I stopped playing). I believe this indicates that the recording corresponds to the show being watched even though only the play was selected. I tried this a couple time with the same results.
I don’t remember seeing that a live tv show being watched is also recorded before but I am being very observant since plex messed up and didn’t record shows as I described in earlier posts to this thread.
