Sonic Analysis won't progress past xxxx albums

Hi i’m having an issue where I have over 18000 albums and after a couple of weeks of sonic analysis my pc had an issue where windows file explorer started to close down , so had to do a reboot and now sonic analysis wont progress past 4135 albums. I can see that it is not processing anything as the cpu usage is 20% at most even though it shows sonic analysis is in progress . I have more than 50gb free and i dont have that folder in plugins suport/databases . Ive tried a few times to restart the process a few time but no luck

I think I had the same thing. I also have over 25K albums and am down to 17K.

First, make sure you are on the latest version as they did add some bad file skipping and it might resolve your problems.

Second, go into plex and under tracks and sort by duration and make sure you don’t have any super long tracks. I am taking about 25 hours plus. I had many of these and just deleted them as they were never going to play. I also went into the database and checked for any tracks that have a NULL for the duration and removed those as well.

Third, If this is still not working, go out to your plex location and find your TMP folder. You should see the folders it’s creating for converting the tracks to WAV files to do the Analysis. I just deleted them all and then started it up again. If it’s still hanging, I would then go into the folders and listen to a couple of wav files to try to track down what album and even track it’s stalling on. I had to use soundhound to figure out a couple of albums. This will pinpoint what album/track it is and you can clean it up or remove it and start the scan up again to see if that fixes the issue.

I still have about 25 days of scanning… sucks but is what it is. Hope this helps and good luck!

Sounds like you had exactly the same manner of problems that I did. In my case I narrowed it down to 2 bad files and I was able to re-make them to unblock the analyzer.

I didn’t realize we could sort by duration… never tried track view! I just did that and found 2 more tracks which report an absurd play time. Strangely those did not stump the analyzer but I will fix them anyway… I guess they still might slow things down even if they don’t stop it dead.

@ASiDiE @BanzaiInstitute , Thanx i found 2 tracks in the latest folder created that were damaged, all good now
