Server Version#:Version 1.41.7.9823
Player Version#:Android TV
On my Sony Bravia TV with Android Plex client, it has always been working fine, and uses a local Plex server on my NAS which several other clients also use.
I was worried about memory usage on the TV, so I deleted the Plex client, but now reinstalled it, and cannot get it to reconnect to the server.
I don’t see any place in the Settings to choose a server. When I reinstalled, I used plex.tv/link and authenticated using my desktop. On my desktop I have a plex client which works fine and knows the server, but if I use a browser client it also does not connect to that server.
I have several other accounts which show up in “change accounts” on each system, but none of them point to the proper server except my PC desktop client.
I’d like to delete all other of these clients and managed accounts - since most all are left-overs from trying to fix things in the past and do not connect to the proper server..
Not sure what exactly you’re experiencing.
You should however make sure to upgrade your server – versions 1.41.7 to 1.42.0 were compromised with a vulnerability that was fixed in the 1.42.1 branch. Plex is currently limiting access for anyone but the admin to libraries hosted on such a PMS version.
But still the same thing - my PC desktop is connected to that server and shows the update, and no other client (TV, web) connects to that server.
Where is the option in the client to specify a server?
And how can I delete unused (and non-functional) “managed” user accounts;.switching to any other account on other clients - doesn’t show any server, only Plex web.
Can you confirm that server is linked to your account?
You shouldn’t need to specify a server IP for Plex apps to find your server, as long as both are linked to the same account.
To verify:
open Plex Web
navigate to Settings > [Server Name] > General
check if this settings page offers an option to sign-in or claim your server — if it’s already claimed, your account should be listed next to an option to sign out
Apparently it had logged in using an account from various browsers at different ties, and they were not connected to the server. So I had to log out and did find a “specify email” option, and then could log into the same account as the server. Voila.
Why it did not find the same account that it had just an hour earlier on the same system (TV), is not clear to me - I had assumed it would.
No, Plex web nor any client that I find has an option to sign-in or claim server; the login account just has to match, as you noted.
And one can delete extraneous managed accounts, using the “edit” button on them.
