Sound and music in movies sounds bad

When watching a movie and especially when music is playing, the sound is bad. It is crackling as if it did not decode from the DVD properly or something. The music in a movie is when it is especially noticeable. I have tried changing the video quality of the playback with no improvement. I do not see any settings allowing me to modify the specific quality of sound in a movie.

Changing quality of a bad source won’t improve that source.
Have you verified the file itself is ok? Do you get the same crackling if you play the file through a different (non-Plex) app?

Thank you for replying. Playing with VLC Player the sound is good, smooth, and clear. It happens with all of my movies on Plex. Playing in VLC I am pulling from the same source as Plex does. (Synology NAS)

You haven’t mentioned with what version of Plex Media Server and what Plex apps you’re experiencing this. Is it the same in all Plex apps (e.g. browser, desktop, mobile)?

I updated to Version 1.25.6.5577 Plex Media Server and all it did was mess up my library and loose the connection to my Synology. I had refused to update since the last time I tried I encountered issues as well.
I watch Plex movies primarily via web browser on my PC (Brave, Edge and Chrome). However it is also experienced when I watch on my Samsung TV. I do not notice it on my phone app.
I have installed the Plex app on my PC and since my library is messed up now everything is “Unavailable”
Guess I need to sort this new mess out before continuing with the sound issue.
Thank you.
