I am a gold pass member and currently have my plex server running on a windows 10 computer. Nothing else on the pc. I use HD Homerun dual tuner to pull my antenna into plex and things seemed to work fine. I am pulling Indianapolis Indiana OTA channels.
I have the plex app & HD Homerun app on H96 Pro+ (android tv box), one in the living room and another int he bedroom.
When attempting to play live tv and even recorded video directly from my plex app I get the video with no audio. It is playing the audio in AC3 5.1.

I do not have a 5.1 surround system, in some cases of recorded video I have been able to go in and change the audio feed to surround or mono and it would work. In other cases I could not change over the audio, either there was no other option or it would not even give me access to change audio feed?

In live tv from my app on my android boxes I am not able to change audio settings on player?? So I dont even know if indeed that is the issue here or not.
However, at times I get a channel to work with audio but not the next channel? Even whenI record live tv, I have difficulties getting the audio to work as it is playing in the 5.1 format and I either can not change it or there is no option to change it.

Now for the confusing part, I can use my HD Homerun app and it plays every channel with audio, no glitch no problems with any channel.

So I am having a hard time thinking its the tuner or settings in the tuner as everything seems to be fine on its end, the problem only exists within the android app for plex…

I checked forums, google and Youtube and found nothing that solved my issue. I checked HD Homerun setup and plex setup and could not find any solution that fixed this problem. I tried so many diffirent settings I dont even know what settings I currently have on my plex, lol.

Is there a way to set the audio to a default setting that would be compatible for all devices? At least within each device and yes I did go into the device settings as well with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would prefert o be able to funtion within one app to watch live tv and I would like to be ablet o use plex to record my tv programs and be able to watch them later with sound, lol.

why changing anything at all?
if your client doesn’t support actual 5.1, it’ll either just pick the channels it needs or downmix them to a stereo “Digital Surround”. If the client cannot deal with AC3 at all, Plex will transcode accordingly and provide a stereo stream. Audio transcoding is very light on the CPU and shouldn’t be noticeable to you (based on my experience).

At times it gives me that option to change it, other times it does not give me that ability and that is only after recorded.

Live tv on plex with android app does not give me any option to change audio feed and therefore I cannot watch live tv unless I read lips, which I don’t.

In your Android app settings do you have passthrough disabled?

Yes, passthrough is Disabled…

I did however come across something odd, when I hit the play now and I go to the settings icon in the player, I can change the quality of the feed.
If I continue to go down the list and downgrade the feed so to speak, eventually I find one that works for video and audio?

Shouldn’t this be done automatically, that’s how I have it set in my server settings, tv box, and app settings…
