Space- 1999 (1975) Season 1 Not Reading

I’m struggling to get my favourite Space- 1999 Season 01 episodes recognized and read correctly by my plex server.

Space- 1999 (1975) {tmdb-134} \

… Season 01\ Space- 1999 (1975) - S01E01 - Breakaway.mkv

… Season 01\Space- 1999 (1975) - S01E02 - Force Of Life.mkv

… Season 01\Space- 1999 (1975) - S01E03 - Collision Course.mkv

… Season 01\Space- 1999 (1975) - S01E04 - War Games.mkv

and so on until

… Season 01\Space- 1999 (1975) - S01E24 - The Last Enemy.mkv

The Plex Server only recognises 8 episodes in Season 01 Episodes 17 to 24.

However, the Space- 1999 (1976) {tmdb-134} \ Season 02 \ episode folder is perfectly read with all 24 episodes read correctly.

I’ve viewed through lots of forums and can’t work out why Season 01 episodes 01 to 16 are not read by the server.

Any suggestions or work arounds would be gratefully appreciated.

What do you mean by “episodes are not read”?
Are they not scanned/catalogued to begin with or are they listed but not getting any metadata?

Not sure what platform you’re using and if there could be a permission issue?!
The names as such seem ok (though, personally I would just have dropped the : instead of replacing it with a -… but that should apply to all files, not just the 16 episodes).

I made a test folder and the couple test episodes I made (1,2,5) matched ok. I tried both with and without the {tmdb-134} in the folder name.

This sounds like a permissions issue. Are you on a linux server where file & group ownership/permissions matter?

Not sure if it applies here, but if these are downloaded rather than personal rips, there could be some embedded metadata overriding plex’s ability to sort them. Might need to strip out or edit the information using an editor of some kind, like mkvtoolnix gui.

Might not be your problem but could be worth checking.

OK I managed to resolve this problem by removing the name extensions within the file names to the following:

… Season 01\ Space- 1999 (1975) - S01E01.mkv

… Season 01\Space- 1999 (1975) - S01E02.mkv

… Season 01\Space- 1999 (1975) - S01E03.mkv

… Season 01\Space- 1999 (1975) - S01E04.mkv

and this sorted out the issue.

Probably the Plex Dance would have helped without renaming the files.
