Can something be done with amount of spam on forum? At exact this moment in “Recent Discussions” there are 3 topic Plex related.
Can’t you introduce some kind of time limit for new registered accounts?
P.S. Why can’t I post http://forums.plex.tv/categories/welcome-to-the-plex-forums ?
There were about 4 pages of spam earlier. It’s always the same kind of spam as well.
It should be able to make a spam filter for this. The thread subjects mostly contain: “+91(at least 8 extra digits)” or “91-(at least 8 extra digits)”
Spam filters are used to try to catch some of these, but spammers have gotten very smart at getting around these. We also have many moderators to catch spammers, but we can’t get them all right away, but we get to them eventually.
There is always place for improvement. like mentioned above most of the topics are very similar. And what’s up with permissions to the subforum?

This subforum is ‘Archived’ i.e. read-only.
Another day, another wave of crap. 5 pages! Those spam filters needs some fixing.
Some forums have built in delay before posting new topic for fresh accounts.
LOL, I had created the almost exact same topic 45 minutes sooner and no views. : (
Sorry man, I haven’t seen it. You know single spammer can post 2 topics/minute so it might have been already on page 5.
LOL, that was exactly my suggestion with a way to stop that from happening. You always have to limit new accounts for certain things or they will abuse it.
Limiting new users is already done.
But these are human spammers.
We’ve seen accounts created 7 days in advance before they’re being used for spamming.

The thread subject of the spammers have one unique signature, which is the phone number combinations:
Would it be possible to fix the forum spam (possible solution)?
using regex to hunt spammers is like playing whack-a-mole.
they’ll modify the pattern slightly or introduce other characters with similar shape (thanks to Unicode)
And discussing anti-spammer measures on a public forum where the spammers can read along is, err, sub-optimal.
I don’t think any of spammers have Plex Pass, so we should be pretty safe

18 messages in 13 minutes. He is pretty good.
We have exhausted the topic I assume? Waves of spam are still every single day, every few hours.
