Hello,
My setup is the following:
XBOX - HDMI - YAMAHA RX-V775 Receivers - 6.1 Speaker system
When watching certain movies through plex my speakers (especially front) begin crackling very frequently to the point where it is not possible to continue watching the movie.
Is anyone familiar to this and know how to solve it?
Hmm. I don’t know what could be causing this from the XB1 app. Do you have any issues with any other media playback applications? Can you try playing the content back with another app and see if you get an issue? Lastly - could you check if the content is direct playing, or getting transcoded? If you attach your PMS log from when you start playback, we can take a look.
Hello and thanks for your response!
I believe it is only via this application, I can connect a laptop and
stream it through that input instead to see if there is any difference.
It will be a client setting, but I am not sure where it would be in the XBox app. I have opened the app once to see that it worked, and have never really used it. Sorry. Check the support pages maybe.
I’ve tried turning of enchancer on my reciever and changed from 7.1 to 5.1
audio from the Xbox (as nearly no movie has encoded 7.1 the reciever will
get to upscale it).
It seemed to improve somehwat but wasn’t a 100% switch to a perfect sound
so I’m halfway satisfied. However my first fears were that the speakers had
blown so there is a silverlining
Also getting this, but only in the last couple of week or so after many moths of use without issue. Regular crackling has just started to crop up on my media.
I noticed lats night that when changing between audio streams AAC 5.1 had no crackling but DTS 5.1 stream did… not sure if anyone else can replicate.

When playing via Chrome both streams are perfect.
Make sure you select the correct listen mode on your receiver
Have been through and tested with various receiver settings including “direct” (model is Yamaha RX-V467) - all with the same result, I even had some issues today with an AAC 7.1 stream (albeit the experience was better than the DTS HD stream).
I setup my Raspberry Pi3 on the receiver to see if I encountered the same issues, interestingly there were no pops/cracks when playing either a DTS HD or AAC 7.1 stream.
