Hi using latest version of everything. Running Plex server on Synology NAS. I have been trying to add my extra features so that my smart TV client will show it. I have already read the guide and do understand that it will not show extras, featurettes, etc yet. I am using the work around by using specials and tvdb S00EXX format.
My question is the show I am setting up is GRIMM and for S00E22 it says on tvdb - “Season 01 Deleted Scenes e01-e05” I have 5 different deleted scene files. if I name them all S00E22 it only plays the first file. Do I have to re-encode them as one big file? I know I can use S00E70 and above they will show up without meta-data. If I use that route, and input file information, it would stay. Any help is appreciated.
Episodes Split Across Multiple Files
Episodes that are split into several files (e.g. pt1, pt2), can be played back as a single file if named correctly. Name the files as follows:
/TV Shows/ShowName/Season 02/ShowName – s02e17 – Split_Name.ext
Where Split_Name is one of the following:
cdX
discX
diskX
dvdX
partX
ptX
…and you replace X with the appropriate number (cd1, cd2, etc.).
If you’ve access to the DVD/Blu-ray, check for one large file with all the deleted scenes.
On some discs, there will be one large file with all the deleted scenes and smaller files for each individual deleted scene (and the same for trailers & other extras). The large file will usually have chapter markers denoting the individual scenes, trailers, etc.
You can also use MKVToolNix to combine the individual files into one episode. This does not re-encode, so the operation is quite fast. See the support document @kylborn linked.
Thanks everyone for the responses. The Episodes Split Across Multiple Files does not work for the Smart TV client or Windows PC client. In the end, I spliced the files together to solve the issue.
