Specifying the .grab directory when having more than one folder for TV Shows

First a little about my setup. Running plex on XigmaNAS in a freebsd jail.

Have two different folders presented as a single TV Shows library. /mnt/RecordedTV and /mnt/TV\ Shows.

The /mnt/RecordedTV is the location my tuners are configured to record for the DVR

The /mnt/TV\ Shows is a location that I have ripped DVD TV Series and this is mounted as a read-only file-system so no one can accidentally delete any of these shows.

The DVR has been working successfully for some time, but for some reason suddenly started to get notifications that recordings were failing (right when the Summer Olympics started).

Looking at the logs, there were errors saying that the Grabber: No write permission.

Further up in the log, can see that it is trying to .write to /mnt/TV\ Shows/.grab/

I tried setting the Transcoder temporary directory, which helped fix another problem but not this DVR Recording issue.

If I remove the /mnt/TV\ Shows folder from the library and leave only the /mnt/RecordedTV folder, the recordings start to work.

How does PMS decided which .grab directory to use? Can you force it to use a different directory?

it should go to whichever is the directory set to save the recording. Likely need to see the server logs.

Before I go the log route. I was trying to figure out where you configure the directory to save recording to.

I have looked through all the Manage → Live TV & DVR settings as well as the Manage → Libraries → Recorded TV but can’t find anything with selecting a location for recordings.

Where is this setting?

When you hit record and set record options, if the library selected has more than one folder tied to it then there will be an option to choose the location to save recording.

That matches the folders set up for that library

Thank you BigWheel, I see it different options and setting a recording is now defaulting to the desired RecordedTV directory.

I am not sure how the other recording got set to the read-only library as we have been recording just fine and then a couple of failed recordings somehow got set with the other directory. Just happy it is working again.
