outside of taking one of the versions out then “emptying the trash” and then adding it back. i dont think so
It depends on what type of files they are but try step 5 in my ripping guide

Not trying to merge the actual files themselves. In Plex it will show there are more than one file for the same title. Example if you have both Blu-ray and DVD versions of same movie, after you start to play the file it will pop up another window and show 1080p and 480p under that. In this instance I thought it was erroneously combining two different movies, but it was indeed the 1080p and 480p of same movie. Thought there might be an easy way short of removing it altogether. It’s hard to know whether to split apart or not. I’ve had some movies hidden in split apart on the wrong films and discovered them when playing one of the other 480p selections that popped up. For the most part having them show up that way is a good thing, like having 1080p/480p of same title, or IMAX, Theatrical and Special Editions rather than have them show up as an entirely new movie.
I’ll remove the file, refresh and then reload and refresh and see what happens. I would think a right click and merge function would be useful. Just a thought. Split apart should be used after your certain you know what both files are, which is hard to do because it only shows one of them in the finder path.
just so you know if you right click on a movie in the Media Manager, that has the “2” badge on the poster, and “reveal in finder” then assuming both files are not in the same folder 2 finder windows will open with the respective files.
Right, before you split apart. After you split apart it just shows 1. Without removing files I'm not seeing a way to rejoin them.
I know this is super old but ran across this post while searching for a solution to this problem.
Wanted to share what I figured out. I switched the movie view to list mode, then used control + left click to select multiple movies, then under the top right 3 dot menu (…) there is a Merge option. Worked perfectly
