'Split Apart' TV Shows for 1080P/4K Segregation

Yes, I know Plex supports ‘versions’. Yes, I know I could split my 1080P and 4K into separate libraries, but I don’t like the look of it. So, I have been using the ‘Labels’ under ‘Sharing’ to designate 1080P vs 4K in my movies and only giving users right to one, the other, or both. It works really well and allows for a clean library on the user end. That said, I assumed I could do the same in TV Shows and come to find out it doesn’t quite work the same way. Yes, I have the option to ‘Split Apart’, but as soon as I do it reassembles itself into a one show again. My files are named differently and housed in different locations, but I am guessing because the metadata is the same it keeps re-joining them. Am I missing something or is this the expected behavior? Seems strange to me that I can do it in movies, but not in TV shows.

I wouldn’t need to do any of this if Plex supported proper transcoding of HEVC 10-bit HDR material to SDR with tone mapping. I am not expecting that to come along anytime soon, so I am simply trying work Plex around the situation.

Answered my own question. Simply needed to rename the show to make ‘Split Apart’ act accordingly. I had both versions of the show named the same at the top directory level. Once I appended ‘UHD’ to the end of the directory name Plex played nice. Basically, having different file names alone didn’t cut it even though they were in different directories.
