Hello everyone.
Today I tried to separate two files from two different series, which plex mistakenly merged into a single file. The problem is that the separate option does not appear in the table, as if the file in question were correct.
What can I do ?!
You can only split entire shows, not individual episodes.
If that’s not what you’re looking for, there might be a deeper issue with your file organization or naming.
This is not the problem. I have been using Plex for quite some time and I have had this library like others for a long time, please note that my database is 40 Tb. I have only recently encountered this anomaly and only on some libraries, always on others as show,no problem
Would you mind sharing an example of how your files are named, preferably using the complete path of an episode as well as a pointer to what folder in that hierarchy your library is linked ?
If you deviate from the official naming schema as linked by Otto you can get lucky for a long time… until it suddenly stops working. Hence we usually like to rule out some basic naming issues.
I suggest you place the year those shows first aired in brackets: I Puffi 2021 → I Puffi (2021) I Puffi 1981 → I Puffi (1981)
It might also be worth to check the embedded metadata of both shows in your episode files.
Edit: that being said… there should be an option to split both shows based on the given folder structure. Can you verify you’re actually trying this on the show level? If you’re dealing with a single-season show, you might actually be working on a season record.
You can split the shows but if you have to rebuild your library or server, whatever is causing this will happen again if you don’t fix the root problem
The strange thing is that it has never given me any problems in the three years that I have been using Plex. However, the only thing that helped me was entering the series number, this way it separated the two shows. Thanks for the help, I will try to change the naming of the files.
