Where Split_Name is one of the following: discX multifile movies will not play from disc1 to disc2 using MKV format. I did verify changing from discX to CDX resolves this issue as a workaround.
discX is currently not working in the latest release to date except on the windows version which is still using discX to split parts 1 and 2 of movie title.
The 2 Linux variants are the currently affected by this issue.
Given how much depends on the player’s capability to support stacked files… have you experienced that behavior on the same Plex app using the same player (e.g. using the old player on Plex for Android)?
Personally I prefer to simply append such files to avoid this mess for good
This didn’t become an issue until just recently on both mobile iOS, browser, and thick client windows clients.
The real issue with appending these files is size. Because these are documentary based. each file far exceeds the 4GB file size mark and would create issues. Not to mention the time it takes to append two forms of media that exceed 3 hours in time length creates another issue entirely.
Are you running your server on some FAT16/32 file system?
If so… you should consider updating that (ignoring it’s probably not a good choice for a Linux based system to start with)
Edit: appending 2 mkv files does not require any transcoding – you can just stitch them together using MKVToolNix’s Multiplexer
