Split TV Shows episodes

Hello!

I want to split some TV shows episodes which are merged incorrectly. I have many shows with episodes which doesn’t have nothing to do with each other, nor size, name, or show name… One particular show which is giving me the most problems is Doraemon, which is organised by year and not so much by season. It is merging me two random episodes because it feels it’s good :frowning:

Specials aren’t also handled well. I would like to have the option to split tv shows episodes like movies seems to have (I already dive so deep in the docs before publishing this question).

Any way apart of naming? Because perhaps the specials might be wrong named (I have it like SEASON - Echapter-number. although no much info is provided about how to name specials…), but I’m completely sure that the Doraemon one isn’t wrong at all and it’s Plex fault.

Almost all issues with ncorrectly merged tv shows/episodes can be solved by using the proper, recommended file name format and folder organisation.
So, please show exactly what you are using currently.

I use exact year - [Chapter number] - Name of episode. The ones I commented about Doraemon and are merged together have the following names:

Doraemon - 1991-05-10 [1128] Mini 4x4 reformado.avi
Doraemon - 1982-01-29 [647] El hilo de la relación.avi

I can’t figure out how Plex merged those together. The rest of the episodes are just fine.

Your naming schema won’t work.
This show is not date-based. Use the season and episode numbers as listed on here

Plex is using TheTVDB to fetch metadata for tv shows, so you better organise your files accordingly.

I’m using the Movie Database for my shows as well, as TVDB gave me many problems in the past. I found the problem: It seems that Plex recognised the whole show correctly, but in one of the files, the title of “Mini 4x4 reformado” went in conflict with the other episode, which was, effectively, the episode 4x04 of the series.

I renamed the file and deleted that “x” and it seems that now they are splitted correctly.

Sorry for taking so long to reply, but I was just so upset of the need of renaming my whole library to make those two episodes out of more than 1000, splitted apart, specially because my shema might not be the best one for this show, but it worked and preserved all the info I cared about the show.

So, problem solved, thank you very much :slight_smile: ! Would be great if you add the feature though, because now I have an odd title due to a Plex limitation that could be easily solved.
