My isse with this problem is this. For The Six Million Dollar Man, I have the original TV movie / pilot episodes in various verions/edits. In TVDB they list each one as a S0 episode. The problem is that, for example, one batch of versions of 0x03, and 0x04 have each episode split into 2 episodes (where as 0x02 is the split and extended version of 0x01). So each of these have a long episode version and a split in half episode version. So, I tried naming them with 0x03 & 0x03a & 0x03b (this would be the single LONG episode and then the two part version where the same episode is in two smaller half length episodes, as an example). Plex sees all 3 of these as the same and merges them. What I had hoped is that these would each show up separately. No luck. Any thoughts?
It seems to me there are a few other shows like this where they have the long TV movie style episode and then a split up version for syndication to match regular episode lengths. TVDB cannot necessarily be expected to deal with this, but it would be great if Plex would by allowing either some flexibility in naming (as I tried) or episode level splitting.
Alternatively, does Plex support some kind of local text or XML file that would override the TVDB lookup for metadata?
The only way, so far, I have worked around this is to give filenames to the split episode versions in the 0x9_ range (beyond what is in TVDB data) and go in and manually edit the metadata on each episode to make it look nice.
Iām currently having āfunā dealing with episodes of Star Trek (The Original Series). The blu-rays have both original and remastered versions of the each episode. Of course each episode winds up merged in Plex. The Play Version⦠option is no help determining which episode is which (if I were able to add custom names it might) since it just gives me bit rate and resolution, which are pretty much the same for each version
TV shows can be split.
You just need to be on the highest level of the show.
You cannot split the lower levels, not the āseasonā nor the āepisodeā.
Hi,
Is it possible to split two episodes of a TV series that have been merged as one.
I understand why plex has done it, because the TVDB website marks that particular episode as one feature length episode, but the Blu-ray the series has been ripped from had the episode split as part one and part two.
Surely Plex has seen this problem before, there must be a solution that I am somehow not able to find?
Whatās the point if I can never watch part two of an episode because Plex refuses to split them.
Please help someone
Ok I need some help here as I have read and tried a lot of stuff without success. I have the original Dr Who series but back then they are doing Episode /1 part 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. The naming of the file is good as per screenshot but it combine all parts as a single file and cannot watch all parts as it only display episode 1 part 1.
If anyone can point me in the right direction to fix this it would be great!![2|616x230]
Take the title as it is used on TheTVDB. If there is something in parentheses, take that too. If the title contains invalid characters (depends on your file system), like § : % *, simply leave them out.
Check the naming and the folder structure of your show. Name the top folder of the show exactly after the title on TheTVDB. No abbreviations. No additional subfolders. No aliases. Add the (year) in parentheses of when episode 1 of season 1 of this show was aired.
Name the episode files according to the above linked naming guide. Use the same title as for the top folder. Show's Title (year) - s01e01 - additional info.ext (ā- additional infoā can be left out)
After you corrected the naming and folder structure, perform the Plex Dance with all files for this show.
