Server Version#:Plex Media Player 2.58.0.1076
Player Version#: N/A (Doesn’t matter)
The server crashes are not leaving any log entries.
I have a Plex Media Server, hosted on Windows (64-bit, up-to-date Windows 10), that has just started spontaneously crashing. It has been working okay for about a year and a half, until this morning. It is not visible or available to any client on the network (Windows, IOS, Android), or even from the web-based server on the network. I can “re-start” Plex, but as soon as I click on the “>” icon in the task bar, it simply disappears, just vanishing from the system, and without updating any log files.
This just started last night, after listening to some music on the service (which I rarely do). I have re-booted the computer, manually re-started the service, etc. without any change in behavior. My last version update was installed about a month ago, and–once again–the server seems to have been operating normally until about 2am this morning. Other services (i.e. not Plex-related on the computer are as available as ever.
I have a large-ish collection of media, about 24TB, and the Plex metadata folder is now up to 96GB–have I hit some kind of data size / quantity threshhold?
I don’t know what to do next, as the server is leaving absolutely no clue or evidence as to what is causing the termination. All I can think of doing is re-installing Plex, and re-building my library from scratch, but that’s a pretty heady undertaking, and is far from guaranteed to resolve anything (at this point, it’s just a wild-stab-in-the-dark move).
What can I do? I want to watch some shows!
